Coaching: Junior Coaching & Adult Improvement Sessions

There are two remaining Youth Coaching Sessions this year:

Saturday 10th August 2024 & Saturday 5th October 2024

Morning Session - 10:30 am - 12:30 pm - Break for lunch - Afternoon Session 1:30 am - 3:30 pm.

Junior members can attend one or both sessions.

These fun packed extra curricular coaching sessions in the sun are a great way to entertain junior members over the warmer months. Sessions will include, rigging and basic boat handling on the water. The sessions normally conclude with some friendly fun racing, where juniors collect ducks and sail around closer to shore with staff in the water to guide them around. Older junior members are given more freedom on the reservoir, with a power boat on-hand at all times to assist with fun beginner race coaching.

We have a number of club Toppers, Oppies and Picos that we use. For those with their own boats, be rigged and ready for 10:30 am. For those who wish to borrow a club boat please meet at 9:30 am and we’ll rig together. If you have your own sailing gear then please bring this along; however, if you don’t have any or are missing bits of kit then we have some spare wetsuits and buoyancy aids. We also have some helmets for those younger/less experienced sailors.

NEW Youth Sailing Scheme

During Youth Coaching we ask that parents/carers to remain on-site. Remaining on-site means you get the enjoyment of watching junior members sail or you can pop on your sailing gear, lend a hand and add to the WRSC fun.

If you fancy taking a well deserved break then you can take part in one of the adult sailing activities on the 10th of August or you can just kick back on the club terrace and watch from the sidelines with your feet up! Tea and coffee is available, the bar will be open. Cash and card payments excepted.
