There are just less than 4 weeks to go before West Riding SC’s 2009 Northern Brass Monkey Series starts on January 4th, ideal for trying out all that winter gear you were given for Christmas!
There are two races each day, every Sunday through to 22nd February inclusive, with the first race start at 12 noon. 50 % of races started will count towards series points, and prizes will be presented after sailing on 22nd February. Entries are restricted to monohulls with PY 908 - 1386.
This is the third Northern Brass Monkey series and a bigger than ever entry is expected with even more visitors promised. The entry fee for non-members is a very modest £2 per day, or £10 for the series. You are welcome to leave your boats in the secure compounds free of charge. Please bring your own refreshments during the day, and our modern galley is available if you want to show off your culinary skills. The bar will open after racing to help you thaw out and exchange tales of the day.
Meanwhile, the current 2008 Frostbite Series is reaching its climax with two more weekends to go. There have been 32 participants so far and with wins for Mark Weston's Phantom, the Lasers of Tim Keighley and Hamish Gledhill, the Solos of Jonathan Gledhill, Howard Frear and James Porter, plus Mike Woodhead's Finn, there is no clear cut leader and everything is to play for. The series finishes on 21st December with the traditional Christmas Fuddle.
