It was a case of deja-vu on the final day of West Riding SC's Northern Brass Monkey Series. For the second week running the Race Officer had no option but to abandon racing for the day with a total flat calm holding sway on proceedings. As a novelty, there was solid ice round the edge of the lake, despite the dazzling sunshine, to enhance the Race Officer's decision. With the final discards finally firing in, there was a close finish for the series winner between two Solos with Mark Weston hanging on by just 2 points from Howard Frear. Visitor Matt Velamail from Ulley SC was the only competitor to start every race in the series, and his persistence was rewarded with 3rd place, only another 2 points back. West Riding SC takes a break from sailing for the next two weeks while club members spruce the place up for the coming season. Sailing action recommences on 2nd March with the first day of the Early Spring Series, open for non-members at £2 per day or £10 for the series. There will be three races a day with first start at 11.00am, and the series runs through to 13th April.
