Lleyn Lergy fails to dim Fun in the Sun at triumphant Abersoch Dinghy Week.
The entries were down, but the temperatures were up.Some WRSC sailors were afflicted by the Llleyn Lergy and missed races, but WRSC sailors were amongst the prize winners. (For those in doubt, Lleyn is the name of the peninsular on which Abersoch is situated, not the lady behind the bar in the Vaynol Hotel.)
12 of the 213 entries were from WRSC, and wherever they finished in their respective fleets, they were able to enjoy a return to what Abersoch is all about - Fun in the Sun.
West Riding Sailing Club hosted the Streaker Northerns at Wintersett reservoir over the Bank Holiday weekend. Unfortunately the Met. Office was spot on for once, and the forecast put off a number of people and others didn't unpack after they'd arrived. As it was, 14 boats actually took to the water for the first race in a shifty force 4 gusting 5.
With a forecast of strong winds and heavy rain, 45 boats made it to the three-day regatta at West Riding Sailing Club held over the Spring Bank holiday weekend. Of these 15 were Streakers who were holding their Northern area championships within the regatta.
