Now is the winter of our discontent… Although the thaw is underway, the ice flow that is Winterset Reservoir remains stubbornly in place and a decision has been taken to cancel the opening day of West Riding SC’s 2011 Northern Brass Monkey this Sunday, 2nd January. As global warming resumes, it is hoped that the water will be in a sailable state for the series to get under way on Sunday 9th January.

WRSC couple win trophies at Nationals
Hamish
and Rachel Gledhill were winners of the Loving Cup for the first couple overall
at the RS 400 Nationals at Pwhelli
SC.Their 10th place also meant that
Rachel won the Ice Bucket for the first lady – presumably for her helm to fill
with a bottle of champagne.
Come on down an enjoy an afternoon of fun and frivolity on the lawn at West Riding Sailing Club. There will be fun for all the family so bring everyone down for a great afternoon.
See you all there...
Workday in June
Saturday 26th June
There will be a workday at West Riding Sailing Club on Saturday 26th June. The day will start at 10.00am and finish around 4.00pm when there might be a chance of enjoying a Commodore's beer on the decking.
The clubhouse needs painting this workday so please make sure you bring painting clothes, ladders, rags, rollers, brushes and anything else you have that can help.
Please make the effort to attend at these workdays save the club literally thousands of pounds a year and help keep your subscriptions as low as possible.
Summer Camp 2010
Friday 19th – Sunday
21st June
It’s nearly that time of year again to enjoy another Summer
Camp weekend at the sailing club – quite possibly the most exciting and
enjoyable event of the WRSC sailing and social calendar. This year will be the
5th Summer Camp weekend and another great opportunity for WRSC members
and their friends and family to enjoy both sailing and non-sailing activities
in a relaxed and welcoming environment. This is a clique-free zone – all the
adults and kids muck in together to make the weekend a success – camping, playing,
socialising, sailing, preparing food, and generally swelling the bar profits (the
adults that is!). You don’t need a family or children to attend – everyone is
welcome.
With our own fleet of Opis, Toppers and Larks and qualified
RYA trainers to provide assistance to beginners and less experienced sailors we
can provide on the water activities. There’ll also be some more experienced
sailors around to pass on tips to those keen to build on their own skills.
Even if you can’t join us for the whole weekend, this year
we are combining the camp weekend with the very funny and successful Indoor
Games event. So, if you’ve missed swinging a bottle between your legs or
dropping pennies from your derriere (!) do join us.
